What Up? Altered,
Hey Guys,
Love stinks!!
There's a reason they call it falling in love...because it hurts. Maybe not at first, but it eventually will. Think about it. We run around like idiots when we like someone, doing crazy things we'd never do otherwise, to get their attention. We risk the possibility that our love won't be returned. We open our heart to someone for them to fill it with shards of glass and rejection and kick it to the curb. Then, if the person actually likes us back, we begin the process of mutual self-inflicted torture. The people you love are the people you hurt the most and those same people are given access to a whole part of our lives that no one else sees; hopes, dreams, insecurities, odd habits, hidden thoughts, that at some point intentionally or unintentionally they'll use against you. Talk about vulnerable! And then the statistics tell us we have a small chance of actually making it. Falling in love hurts, falling out of love hurts more, but I think it's the sudden stop at the end that destroys us. People can give and take their love away at any moment and for the strangest reasons. When it comes down to it, love stinks. So why do we want it so badly? Why do we chase it, sing about it, watch and read about it, obsess over the latest celebrity marriage and divorce of the week? What is it about love that makes us behave this way? Maybe the problem isn't with love. Maybe we're the ones that are broken. Love does exist; real, genuine, selfless love. It's just rarely seen in the truest form. That's why we're so amazed by it when we do see it. It's the reason the story of Jesus is still known today, because He is love. The Bible says He'll never leave you or forsake you. He won't dump, divorce, or deceive you. He'll never walk out on you, never break your heart. This is the love the world needs to experience, and it's your job to share it with them!
See you this month at Altered.
