SENIOR PASTOR
Pastor Thor Sorenson and his wife, Karen, provide the heart and vision for the ministry at Hermantown Community Church. They have a great burden to proclaim the “good news” of Christ to people in this area. Pastor Thor preaches the word of God with down-to-earth clarity, sincerity, and humor. He demonstrates his heartfelt compassion for the salvation of people through his preaching and his own personal witness. Karen brings her talents and leadership to the Women’s Ministry and offers a caring heart for the church. She wonderfully compliments her husband’s desire to see people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ

Our Mission: Reconciling people back to God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. II Corinthians 5:17:21
The Mission...
Our purpose for ministry can be best understood through the following verses of scripture:"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us; be reconciled to God." (II Corinthians 5:17-20) Evangelism is the heartbeat of the reconciliation process. In all areas of our church it is foremost in our mind that the main purpose for everything we do as a church is to reconcile people back to God. Discipleship is part of the reconciliation process. We want to concentrate our efforts in sharing the "good news" of Christ in our daily lives. Our goal is to train, nurture, and develop new Christians so they can do the same in others. We encourage you to consider the ministry opportunities that are available at Hermantown Community Church. Through these ministries you will be able to grow spiritually in your Christian life and be able to help others to be reconciled to God.
What We Believe...WE BELIEVE
...In the Bible as the inspired and infallible Word of God.
...That there is one God revealed in three persons:
God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
...That Jesus Christ is God, that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died to pay for sin, was resurrected bodily from the dead, that He ascended into Heaven, and that He will return to earth to rule for one thousand years.
...That being "born again" through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the regeneration of the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
...In the empowering of the believer through the Baptism with the Holy Spirit, available to those who ask for it.
Acts 2-4
...In the power of the Holy Spirit to enable the believer to live a holy life that is set apart for God.
...In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation.
...In the two biblical ordinances of the church: water baptism and communion. Water baptism requires knowledge and belief in God's salvation through Christ: therefore water baptism must be age appropriate. Communion is celebrated monthly and is offerd to all who have put their faith in Christ as their Lord and Savior.

OUR MISSION: Reconciling people back to God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
by the power of the Holy Spirit.
OUR MESSAGE: That God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be the expression of His love and the punishment for sin, so that anyone could come to experience a true relationship with Him and have eternal life. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

OBEDIENCE AND SERVICE: Obedience to God's moral law and to live a life of service (good works) to God. Matt 5:16: John 14:15,21,23; Cor 9:6-15
GIVING: To God's Church as a commitment to His Kingdom's work on earth and as an expression of our love for Him. Mal 8-10; Matt 6:21; Cor 9:6-15
EVANGELISM: A commitment to find ways to proclaim and share the good news of Christ to our world. To enlist the support of each Christian to be a participant in this God-commanded effort.
