Ministry Groups

One of the goals of HCC is to minister to as many people in as many ways as are needed and to train, nurture and develop Christians so they can do the same in others.  Everyone has a special gift(s) or talent(s) that can be used to help others and introduce God's love to a hungry and hurting world.   We are aware that everyone has needs in their own personal lives, from time to time, that need ministering to as well.  We feel that at HCC we have ministry opportunities that can meet the needs of people, saved and unsaved alike, to minister or be ministered to.  Joining a service team is a great way to contribute, meet new friends and make an eternal impact in the live of others all at the same time.  If you have a need that HCC can help with please contact the church office or a pastor.  For more information on volunteering at HCC please contact the church office or a pastor. This page is just a short list of ministries here at HCC.  You can find many other opportunities on other pages of this web site. Please contact the church office or speak with a pastor about your unique gifts and how they fit into the ministry of God's Kingdom.

Men's Ministry
One of the most serious problems in our society is the lack of male leadership; in our communities, schools, at church, and most importantly in
our homes. God wants to raise up strong Christian men to help change the tide. At HCC we currently have two dynamic men’s Bible studies that
are making a difference. Please come and be a part of one. Watch the bulletin on Sundays for other men’s ministry opportunities.

Join us weekly at either of these Bible Studies:  Please come whenever you can.
Mondays at HCC at 6:30am / Leader: Barney Revier
Wednesdays at Perkins East - Backroom at 7:30am / Leaders: Pastor Thor Sorenson and Brent Chapman.

Other Men's Opportunities:
Young Adult Men's Ministry Group
There are several Young Adult groups that meet throughout the week/month. - Check out the Connect Group page on this website
or contact Matt Zimmer at the church (729-8797) for more info.

Monthly Men's Meeting
Men's Breakfast Meeting meets every 2nd Saturday of each month @ 8:00 a.m.
This is a He-Man's breakfast, so if you are hungry for God's Word and a great breakfast, join them monthly. Come earlier if you would like
to be part of the cooking and set up.  This is a great time of "male bonding"!

Women's Ministry

"My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that
they may know the mystery of God, namely, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."  Colossians 2:2-3  (NIV)

The Women's Ministry of Hermantown Community Church believes that each woman is uniquely created by God.  We are committed to seeing that each woman realizes that God has an exclusive, exciting plan and purpose for her relationship with Him, her family and within her local church body and community.  Women's Ministry is purposeful in providing opportunities for women to grow spiritually and to develop their relationships with other women.  These opportunities include large events such as conferences, retreats and dinners; small groups like ”Ladies Night Out”, where women can fellowship and nurture lasting relationships while experiencing a deeper sense of belonging and involvement at church.  We also invite participation in study groups where women can learn of God’s love for them and learn to apply God's Word to their roles as single and married women, mothers, businesswomen, etc.

StreeTeam Ministry
God has given us the ministry of reconciliation.  With the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to step out of our comfort zone to answer this call.  Using tools such as surveys, prayer station, tracts, and our feet, the StreeTeam invites all to join us as we go out into our cities' streets.  In a gentle, loving manner we will tell of the Good News of Jesus Christ, our only hope for eternal life.  This ministry is taking to the streets, in our community and others, to bring the Good News to individuals in a personal way through witnessing and praying with people.  You will be given training on how to do this in a loving and effective way.
Feel free to contact Tom and Veronica (Roni) Ciurleo at  vciurleo@aol.com for more information, or talk with Pastor Thor for more information.
"The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his labor."  ICor 3:8
Current News:
Our outreach with the Prayer Station on Sat., Feb 18 was extrememly powerful.  Many stopped for prayer and conversation about Jesus and salvation.  We will have another outreach on the corner of 21st Ave W. and Superior St. with the Prayer Station on Sat, Mar 3 and March 17.  We meet at the church at noon for prayer and we set up the Prayer Station on the corner at 1:00 p.m.
A Missions Trip to N.Y.C. is in the works for June 16-24, 2012.  Cost is $600.00 per person and includes travel, lodging, and most meals.
A $25.00  non-refundable deposit is due to Roni by Feb. 5, 2012.  Check out STREETLIVE.ORG to see more.  We will be teaming with them.

Worship
Through relevant, contemporary music we seek to praise God for who He is and what He has done.  Our worship is not a performance or musical activity, but our heart's expression of love and adoration to God.  Join us on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings for powerful praise and
worship the way God intended.  If you have questions about the worship or worship team please call the church office.

Drama
Drama is one of the creative vehicles used to reconcile people back to God.  It provides a visual approach to sharing the "Good News" of Christ that
can touch people's hearts - the audience, the cast, and the crew.  The drama performances enable many members of the congregation to take part
in this ministry and contribute to God's message of salvation. Watch this website and/or the church bulletin or call the church office for info on upcoming events.

Adopt-A-Spot
The Adopt-A-Spot is a practical ministry that enables us, as the church body, to feel invested in our church in a simple and manageable way.  Similiar to Adopt-A-Highway, this ministry allows individuals, families and friends to "Adopt-A-Spot" to help keep our church looking good and funtioning at its best.  There are many "spots" at Hermantown Community Church that can benefit from additional attention, outside of the church staff's capabilities.  Many "spots" need cleaning, repairing or just sprucing up. There is a sign up board of suggestions at the info desk to give you ideas or you can suggest your own.   Participants in this ministry can arrange times to help the church that fit into their own individual schedules, instead of everyone trying to be present on one cleaning day.  The church will supply appropriate tools and supplies for the job.  "MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!"
Feel free to contact the church office or David, Julie or Adam Rollin, at 218-722-0851, with questions or comments.

Heart Touch Deaf Ministry
The mission of Heart Touch Deaf Ministry begins with seeking God's will through prayer and studying His word so we can become an effective witness and example to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. By reaching out to them, where they are, we will continue to learn their culture and language. We will continue to support each other with prayer, training and the love of Christ.
Please contact the church office, 218-729-8797, to make arrangements for an interpreter for services,  Sunday school, or special events.

Prayer
Prayer develops our relationship with God and also provides opportunity to trust God for our Christian life, and to intercede for the spiritual and
physical needs of others.  (Matt 6:5-13: Phil 4:6.)  We believe in praying one for another and have a prayer chain to pray for the needs of others.
If you have a prayer request you would like the prayer chain to pray for, please call the church office and the office will get the need to the prayer chain.

Community Service
We at Hermantown Community Church believe that we should be out in our community serving and bringing the Good News to everyone.  Some of the things that we do to fulfill this calling are a church service ministry at Edgewood Vista on the 4th Sunday of every month @ 1:30 p.m. and a
"Get Out of the House" service ministry at the Union Gospel Mission the last Thursday of every month @ 5:00 p.m., where we fellowship with others as we serve dinner.  Both of these opportunities can be joined by anyone who would care to participate.  You can call the church office with any questions.

Transportation
We have a transportation ministry that picks up and drops off people for church services on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.  If you need a ride to church, or would like to help in this ministry, please call the church office at 729-8797.

Ushers and Greeters
We hope and pray that everyone who enters the doors of HCC feels welcome and are helped and guided in such a way to help them feel welcomed. Our ushers and greeters are guided by a wonderful leader who helps them serve in this capacity with hospitality, compassion, helpfulness and friendliness.  If you feel you have a servant's heart and a friendly personality this may be a perfect way to minister to the body and the church.
