Why Are We Here
Our purpose for ministry can be best understood through the following verses of scripture:
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us; be reconciled to God.
II Corinthians 5:17-20
Evangelism is the heartbeat of the reconciliation process. In all areas of our church it is foremost in our minds that the main purpose for everything we do as a church is to reconcile people back to God.
Discipleship is part of the reconciliation process. We want to concentrate our efforts on sharing the "good news" of Christ in our daily lives. Our goal is to train, nurture, and develop new Christians so they can do the same in others.
We encourage you to consider the ministry opportunities that are available at Hermantown Community Church. Through these ministries you will be able to grow spiritually in your Christian life and be able to help others to be reconciled to God.
What We Believe
...In the Bible as the inspired and infallible Word of God.
...That there is one God revealed in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
...That Jesus Christ is God, that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died to pay for sin, was resurrected bodily from the dead, that He ascended into Heaven, and that He will return to earth to rule for one thousand years.
...That being "born again" through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the regeneration of the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
...In the empowering of the believer through the Baptism with the Holy Spirit, available to those who ask for it. Acts 2-4
...In the power of the Holy Spirit to enable the believer to live a holy life that is set apart for God.
...In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation.
...In the two biblical ordinances of the church: water baptism and communion. Water baptism requires knowledge and belief in God's salvation through Christ: therefore water baptism must be age appropriate. Communion is celebrated monthly and is offerd to all who have put their faith in Christ as their Lord and Savior.
What To Expect
We work hard to make Sunday morning a great experience for everyone.
When you arrive on Sunday you can take time to grab a coffee and relax in the lobby or you can go straight into the auditorium. Feel free to come as you are whether that means arriving a little late or leaving a bit early. We want to welcome you to come and go whenever you need to. There will be friendly people around to help you find your way.
If you have children, we have childcare available for 6 months to 5 years old. There are two desk areas in the lobby. One is an information desk where any questions you have about the church or where something is located can be answered. The other is the childcare desk where you can check you kids in. If you want a tour of the areas your kids will be during service just ask.
Children 6 to 12 years may be dropped off in the Gymnasium. There are signs clearly mark where to pick up your kids. If you need help, find a person with a Volunteer badge and they will assist you in a way they can.
Service starts with 30 minutes of worship. Many people sing, raise their hands, clap along with the music. Words will be projected to help you follow along. Participate as much as you feel comfortable. After the music there will be a few announcements and an offering will be taken. Participation is not mandatory; give as you feel led.
The message takes 30 to 45 minutes and consists of teachings from the Bible made relevant for the world today.
Our services are 1 hour and 15 minutes long. Dress however you feel most comfortable.
